Drum Major
Camp, June 19-22, 2008
Nicholas Williams, Director of the UNT Green Brigade, in conjunction
with leadership consulting firm Solution and Specialized Innovations,
will host the second annual Drum Major camp at UNT. Current and
future drum majors and student leaders will receive instruction
from Nicholas Williams and Ron Morrison, CEO of SASI.
The camp includes: Contemporary Conducting Preparation - curriculum
created by Nicholas Williams and presented in small and large group
settings - Modern Marching Instruction - as taught by the country's
best high school and college marching bands and top ten DCI Drum
and Bugle Corps - Effective Leadership Training - as presented to
many outstanding performing groups and Fortune 500 companies
2008 fees TBD: Non-Commuter Fee includes tuition and all room and
board expenses

Conductors
Collegium June 16-27, 2008
The Collegium serves as a multifaceted conducting
workshop, presenting opportunities for instrumental music educators
of all levels from throughout the country to meet and discuss common
goals, shared concerns and practical solutions with colleagues,
performers and composers. The format is designed to allow maximum
flexibility in examining topics that are of paramount interest to
the participants. The goal of the Collegium is to help participants
broaden their perspectives by providing an environment that creates
a positive opportunity for dialogue, investigation and exchange.

As many as 40 participants
will be selected to rehearse and perform on one of four concerts
with the UNT Wind Symphony. Comments regarding rehearsal approach
and conducting pedagogy will be made on videotape. Non-conducting
participants will follow scores and listen to the clinician via
headphones, allowing all to learn the repertoire and stay integrally
involved as the rehearsals progress. Assigned concert repertoire
will be selected from the book Teaching Music through Performance
in Band, Volume 7, grade 2-3, to be published by GIA. In addition,
Eugene Corporon and guests Dennis Fisher, Jack Stamp, and John Whitwell
will offer lectures and lead discussions throughout the twelve-day
session on a variety of related subjects. Morning sessions will
focus on five selected masterworks as well as rehearsal skills and
conducting technique.
Conducting Participant Fee: $600
Non-Conducting Participant Fee: $360
Single occupancy housing is available for approximately $25.50 a
day. Non-refundable deposit required with application: $200
