On Friday, May 3, 2002 at 8:00 p.m., at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament in New York City, three works by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy were performed:  Grosse Festmusik zum Dürerfest (1828), Concerto for Violin in E minor (1845), and Hora Est (1828).  This evening was the world premiere of the complete version of Grosse Festmusik zum Dürerfest, which was written for the 300th anniversary of the death of Albrecht Dürer, the great German Painter and Engraver.  In addition, this evening was the United States premiere of Hora Est, which is a motet for 16-part chorus, baritone soloist and organ.  Dr. Michael Cooper gave a pre-concert lecture at 7:30 p.m. and Johannes and Stephen Somary conducted the Amor Artis Chorus and Period-Instrument Orchestra.
