"Musical Culture of China" field-study trip to Nanning, Quangxi March 29 - April 5
Highlight: attendance participation at March-Third annual song festival of the minority nationals in southern Chinese provinces (peoples are of the same ethnic lineages with those living in Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, etc.) the course emphasize the intimate relation between the (tonal) language and historical cultural elements that had helped to shape much of the indigenous quality of Chinese music.
