Joán Groom, Director of Undergraduate Studies and Associate Professor of Music Theory
Coordinator, Music Theory Division, B.M., Oberlin College; M.M., Ph.D., Eastman School of Music. Groom is Interim Coordinator for Music Theory and is also the Director of Undergraduate Studies for the College of Music at UNT. She studied music theory and composition with Nadia Boulanger and Darius Milhaud. Her research interests lie in twentieth-century analysis as well as principles and methods of theory pedagogy. Groom was a member of the original National Consortium for Computer-Based Music Instruction.
