The purpose of Student Review is to ensure that students have acquired basic musicianship skills needed for successful teaching. The process examines students' sight-singing and error detection skills. Vocal students are additionally tested on their classroom piano skills; instrumental students are additiionally tested on their knowledge of transpositions and fingerings.
