Dr. Bob Lawrence, Addison, TX --MME 1988, PhD 2001
|
Dr. Lawrence was originally trained as a classical pianist at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa, where he earned a Bachelors degree. However, it was jazz that captured his interest and led him to the University of North Texas.
Although Dr. Lawrence remains an active performing jazz musician, his passion for music education has consumed his
professional career. His extensive teaching experience in traditional elementary,
secondary, retail, and private environments has fueled Dr. Lawrence's research and study of
organizational culture and behavior.
As the founder and CEO of The Dallas School of Music, Inc., he has sought to establish a business paradigm that
broadens the traditional and limited career opportunities available for
music educators. This pursuit has resulted in the development of a for-profit
corporate organizational culture where music educators are
engaged in a variety of academic and entrepreneurial
practices. Dr. Lawrence and his team of DSM music educators have established multiple
educational programs addressing the many needs of its 600 plus clientele, including those students with special needs.
Currently, The Dallas School of Music, Inc. is celebrating ten years of musical
excellence, and Dr. Lawrence has recently launched an on-line
music education company called MusickEd.com that makes available globally the DSM brand of music education and services.
