The Texas Winds Brass Quintet is one of many ensembles that are part of
Texas Winds Musical Outreach of Dallas, Texas. Texas Winds brings high quality
musical programs to people who cannot participate in the cultural life of
the city. It is Texas Winds' purpose to reach out to people confined by
ill health, the economically disadvantaged, the isolated and elderly. This
season, 70 musicians are involved in a varitey of programs. They are providing
650 free concerts for 25,000 people.

Texas Wind Symphony Tuba Section

1893 J.W. Pepper Sousaphone
Everett Gilmore holds the original sousaphone built in 1893 for Sousa
and the U.S. Marine Band by the J.W. Pepper instrument manufacturer of
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This instrument was on loan to the Texas Wind
Symphony for their July 4, 2002 concert in the Bass Performance Hall of
Fort Worth, Texas. |
