The UNT Summer Choral Workshop, Becoming The Choral Poet, is an opportunity for school, church, and community conductors to sharpen, develop, and hone their conducting skills and artistic musical interpretation. Working with a professional choir, Dr. McCoy will coach and guide each participant in developing an artistic interpretation of the music, refining their physical gesture to reflect that interpretation, and getting the most out of the rehearsal process. Other sessions will provide valuable information in such areas as vocal tone and development, diction problems, and voice science and pedagogy—all of which will help both experienced and new conductors reach their full potential. At the end of the workshop, conductors will have an opportunity to observe a recording session of the North Texas Chamber Choir for GIA publications.
Dr. Jerry McCoy, Director of Choral Studies at the University of North Texas.
Dr. Stephen F. Austin, Associate Professor of Voice and Vocal Pedagogy, UNT.
