Dr. Igor Borodin received his music education including the doctorate at the Leningrad State Conservatory, Russia. At the Fifth All-Russian Violin Competition he was awarded the diploma. For ten years preceding his move to the United States, Dr. Borodin was associate concertmaster of the Leningrad Philharmonic, performing with many of the great conductors and soloists of this generation in most of the leading musical centers of the world. During this time, he also served on the violin faculty at the Leningrad State Conservatory.

In 1991, after a one year residency as a visiting professor of violin and chamber music at the Idyllwild School of Music and the Arts in California, Dr. Borodin joined the faculty of the College of Music at the University of North Texas.

Since then he has given solo and chamber recitals, master classes, clinics and workshops at colleges, universities, schools and other music organizations in Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin.

His students have won first prizes at solo competitions such as the Sorantin Award, J. Stulberg Violin Competition, Oklahoma Concerto Competition and ASTA Competition. Some of his students have been among winners and finalists of Dallas Symphony auditions, Solti Project, Ima Hogg Competition, and numerous summer music festivals. Among his former students are the assistant concertmaster of the Baltimore Symphony, principal second violin of the Houston Symphony, and associate concertmaster of the Dallas Opera.
